To me the issues of transport in our electorate mean more than just getting from A to B. It is about having more time to spend with the people that mean most to us, more time to do the things that we enjoy and spending less time in a car, train or bus, or waiting on a station platform. Many people spend big chunks of their time (or contents of wallets) commuting by road, rail or bus to their chosen place of work. Remember that this commute time is taken directly from spending time with your familiy and your activities, so there is a direct and measurable sociai impact. When I first had I Grace lamented the problems that we were having with only one car, when my husband had it, I didn't feel that I could trust the buses in the area to get me where I needed to go with a baby, which left me feeling isolated. As a road user I can totally empathise with anyone who has to use the Westgate Freeway in the morning. It is often quicker for me to travel to Ballarat than it is to go in the city! Until the completion of Palmers Road, access out of Point Cook/ Seabrook was a nightmare. If you have ever used Boardwalk Boulevard or Point Cook Rd near the the freeway during the morning or afternoon peak, you will know what local congestion is. There are 3 key problems, which I think are undeniable facts:
About private transport;
In location of employment;
