"Vote Local, Vote Liz"

Is Hobson's Bay Council seeking to influence the result of the election?

Is Hobsons' Bay City Council seeking to 'endorse' the former local member Lynne Kosky, thereby giving its 'stamp of approval' to the Labour party in this by-election?

So what makes my experiences relevant to running for a position on local council?

  • I have lived in The Boardwalk in Point Cook since 2001. Like many of you, I built my first home here.
  • I work full time in Pharmaceutical Sales, and have a 15 month old daughter, Grace.
  • My husband Dan and I also run a Small Business Consultancy (helping other local small businesses) from our home.
  • I have a background as a Registered Nurse (NSW) and Midwife.
  • I was on the committee of the first Neighbourhood Watch in Point Cook.
  • I have been a member of the Point Cook Residents' Association (PCRA) since it's inception, and organized Community Events in Point Cook, when there were no other associations available to do so.
    • The idea was to get this new Community involved with their neighbours to build a stronger community.
    • As the population of Point Cook has grown the PCRA has become more of an advocacy group for local issues and this is where my interest in becoming a local Councillor has stemmed from.
  • I have become frustrated with phone calls and letters to Council, attending Council meetings and generally trying to have questions answered or get things done. Too many times I have had the answer 'no, we can't do it', or 'we'll see to it soon' and the issues are never resolved.

Whilst we all understand that sometimes it takes a while for things to happen, wouldn't it be better if the community felt that it was being listened to?

If you believe that change is needed, and that council must once again become accountable to its ratepayers;

VOTE 1: LIZ MUMBY FOR TRUGANINA.
