Is Hobson's Bay Council seeking to influence the result of the election?

Is Hobsons' Bay City Council seeking to 'endorse' the former local member Lynne Kosky, thereby giving its 'stamp of approval' to the Labour party in this by-election?

According to the Deputy Mayor of Hobsons's Bay's website, a motion was raised at their 2nd Feb meeting to "thank Lynne Kosky for Outstanding Service".

Council needs to ensure that we have the best access to Health Care that we can in Point Cook. Whilst our services are adequate and fulfill the needs of much of the Community at the moment, what will happen in the future? We already have a chronic shortage of GPs in our Community, our local Hospital provides an excellent service but more could be done to support these services. Council needs to ask State Government for more funding, or perhaps contribute themselves. We need find innovative ways to get GPs to locate themselves in this area. With such a high birth rate and our Community continuing to grow we need to ensure that we plan for the future with our Maternal and Child Health Services. Council also needs to assess the needs of the Community in this area, ask the Community what it sees as the major concerns.
