"Vote Local, Vote Liz"
When deciding to run for the seat of Altona, i wondered about why people would vote for me. After all I'm a wife & mother, who is running a small business, while succeeding in my career in the medical industry. Most importantly, I want my family to live in the best community. Like you, I'm not from inside the political group. I don't speak the 'lingo' of the politician, I live in the real world, frustrated by things not happening in our local area.I'm standing for the seat of Altona because I keep hearing about the same issues time and time again, and the whole matter boils down to a lack of planning and community infrastructure. The people I talk to on a day to day basis agree on this. Whether they are friends, colleagues, customers, concerned community groups or local small businesses, the issues are all important but there doesn't seem to be anyone taking actions to resolve the problems at their root causes. I am a busy person but I think that will help me get things done. We all know the old adage "If you want something done, give it to a busy person". If you expect your tax dollars to deliver a community that you are proud for your children to grow up in, then I will work for you to bring that change about. "Vote Local, Vote Liz"1 Note: Since originally writing this article, we've been informed that some of the other independant candidates also live in the electorate, although they weren't listed in the the 2009/10 Residential White Pages. |

After searching the current White Pages, I found that none of the candidates appeared to live in our electorate.1 It was then that I realised we need a local voice to deal with local issues and that I should run as an independent for Altona at this by-election.
