"Vote Local, Vote Liz"

Newsflash

Is Hobson's Bay Council seeking to influence the result of the election?

Is Hobsons' Bay City Council seeking to 'endorse' the former local member Lynne Kosky, thereby giving its 'stamp of approval' to the Labour party in this by-election?

According to the Deputy Mayor of Hobsons's Bay's website, a motion was raised at their 2nd Feb meeting to "thank Lynne Kosky for Outstanding Service".

In recent years Council employed a consultancy to forecast future growth and thus anticipate future needs for all of Wyndham. A link to this document can be found here. In an effort to ensure that this document is not just 'another report' I think it important to highlight some of the data that is contained in this report for the Ward of Truganina.

The population in Point Cook is currently around 19 500, in ten years it is expected that population will double. The majority of that growth will come from the under 50s with a high percentage being families and children. About 800 new homes are expected to be built in Point Cook every year for the next 15 years.

The population in Truganina, the suburb, is expected to almost triple in the next ten years to about 15 500. Again the majority of that growth will be in the under 50s and families with children. About 400 new homes per year are expected to be built in Truganina for the next 15 years.

The population of Tarneit is also expected to almost triple in the next ten years to around 23 000. Again the majority of that growth will come from the under 50s and families with children. Over the next eight years over 400 new homes per year are expected to be built in Tarneit.

Starting to see a picture here.

These figures should be telling Council all they need to know about the services that they need to provide for the ward of Truganina for the next 10-15 years. In my mind when money has been spend on getting these reports, there is no excuse why Council is not planning for the needs of our community. We have been given a great overview of what our Community will look like, so Council needs to ensure that they forecast for future needs in line with these reports, whatever those needs may be. For example, there is no excuse why we should be asking in 2018 why we don't have good enough roads, or enough Sporting Ovals, or enough Maternal and Child Health Centres when this data is available to Council now.

If you agree with me on this please:
