Is Hobson's Bay Council seeking to influence the result of the election?

Is Hobsons' Bay City Council seeking to 'endorse' the former local member Lynne Kosky, thereby giving its 'stamp of approval' to the Labour party in this by-election?

According to the Deputy Mayor of Hobsons's Bay's website, a motion was raised at their 2nd Feb meeting to "thank Lynne Kosky for Outstanding Service".

The Neighbourhood Meetings that Council has organised have been a great avenue for discussion, but they need to held on a more regular basis.

Importantly, these forums should be for discussing more forward planning in detail for the local area, and how these plans actual impact residents, as well as better addressing Residents' concerns.

Often decisions from council appear to be made of the basis of 'policy' rather than good decision-making. Many times I've heard community groups asking for things that they would normally expect to see in forward planning, such as "when will this facility be built?" or "when is that road going to be duplicated?"

Better planning and friendlier and more open communication will lead to a greater sense of Council being connected to the community, as opposed to standing apart from it.

If you believe that change is needed, and that council must once again become relatable to its ratepayers;
